Symmetric Designs Launches Fixed Adjustable Mounts for Free Form Seating

March 8, 2023 by Laurie Watanabe

Fans of Free Form Seating from Symmetric Designs now have new mounting hardware that’s been crash tested to ANSI/RESNA WC20 standards.

Free Form Fixed Adjustable hardware is shown on a white background. Below is a sample of Free Form Seating.

Starting March 1, the new crash-tested Fixed Adjustable [FA] Mounts were made standard for Free Form Seating, Symmetric Designs announced.

“The FA Mount is low profile, light weight, strong, easy to use, and has passed crash testing in accordance with the standards of ANSI/RESNA WC-4:2017, Section 20: Wheelchair Seating Systems for Use in Motor Vehicles and ISO 16840-4 (2009): Wheelchair Seating-Part 4: Seating Systems for Use in Motor Vehicles,” Symmetric Designs said in a news announcement.

Symmetric Designs will also continue to offer other mounting choices: “We recognize some customers will require the quick-release system that Independent Mounts and Centre Mounts provide, so they will remain available as an option for all Free Form products for the foreseeable future.”

The Fixed Adjustable Mounts attach to the Free Form Shell at two points to provide a “minimal, versatile option for mounting to back support canes. Because this mounting system can mount near the sides of the Free Form Shell, they are a good option when the contouring in the center section requires all Free Form Modules to be free — e.g., lordosis or kyphosis.”
