The MED Group Is Acquired by Managed Health Care Associates

December 2, 2010 by Laurie Watanabe

Managed Health Care Associates (MHA) has acquired The MED Group, the member services organization based in Lubbock, Texas.

MED Group CEO Bill Elliott is resigning his position, but remains a consultant to assist with the transition, according to a news bulletin from MHA.

“All other members of The MED Group management team will be joining MHA in full-time capacities,” the bulletin added.

MHA is a health-care service company focused on Alternate Site health-care providers. Douglas Present, MHA’s CEO, said, “The acquisition of The MED Group is consistent with our strategy of expanding service offerings into different Alternate Site health-care markets. MED combines a strong GPO offering with additional business and patient management solutions that enable their customers to effectively compete in the marketplace. There are great opportunities to combine MED’s service offerings with MHA’s existing offerings and create benefits for our combined membership. We are looking forward to working with the MED team to achieve this potential.”

In addition to offering group purchasing opportunities to DME suppliers and complex rehab technology providers, The MED Group provides educational opportunities in the areas of training, reimbursement, accreditation, certification, logistics and business operations.
