Getting around just got a little easier for members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), thanks to a joint donation from Toyota Motor Sales USA and the Braun Corp.
In December, Toyota and Braun announced they were donating a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan with a BraunAbility Rampvan XT conversion to the PVA’s national headquarters, located in Washington, D.C.
“Toyota Motor Sales has had a long relationship with the Paralyzed Veterans of America and has been a contributing sponsor of the PVA’s annual wheelchair games since 2004,” said Mark Oldenburg, Toyota’s national fleet marketing and mobility manager. “We are honored to be able to support the brave men and women who have served our country.”
Greg Kiser, BraunAbility’s regional GM who was on hand for the delivery of the vehicle, said, “The PVA’s commitment to maximizing its members’ quality of life parallels BraunAbility’s passion for increasing personal mobility for physically disabled Americans, especially our disabled veterans, across the country.”
The minivan was delivered at Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota in Alexandria, Va. The dealership will handle any service and warranty work required by the Toyota chassis, while Ride-Away, a local BraunAbility dealer, will service the conversion portion of the vehicle.
The new Rampvan features a lowered floor, a door opening measuring 56″ in height, an automatic door and side-entry ramp, and four wheelchair securement positions.
