Toyota Mobility describes these Walking Area BEVs (battery electric vehicles) as ways to “lighten the load of the last mile.” The BEV family includes a power attachment for a manual wheelchair (pictured), a three-wheeled standing vehicle, and a three-wheeled scooter.
While Toyota acknowledges on its Web site that “much work lies ahead to advance BEVs,” the manufacturing giant said the BEVs will be used by security and medical personnel at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, now starting July 23 and August 24, respectively.
