While it’s true that this year’s International Seating Symposium (ISS) in Vancouver, B.C., just concluded last month, it’s not too early to start thinking about the next event.
The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology Continuing Education Program (RSTCE) is calling for papers for ISS 2011, to take place at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.
Pitt’s RSTCE program is accepting proposals for paper presentations, poster presentations and one- and two-hour instructional courses.
The deadline for submissions is May 30, 2010.
Thanks to the larger venue – ISS moves from Orlando, Fla., to the Opryland site next year – course director Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., OTR/L, ATP, indicated the new facility has the ability to host hands-on programs and advanced sessions on a large stage within the exhibit hall.
The theme of the 27th annual symposium is Revolution/Evolution. Al Condeluci, Ph.D., CEO of United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh, has been announced as the keynote speaker.

The International Seating Symposium takes place in the United States in odd-numbered years, and in Vancouver on even-numbered years, when the program is produced by the University of British Columbia’s Interprofessional Continuing Education division.
