Sneak Peek: Meet Permobil's New Virtual Seating Coach
Even the best wheelchair seating in the world cannot be clinically effective if it isn’t used properly. For consumers, that means performing weight shifts at prescribed intervals, to optimal degrees of tilt and recline, for the lengths of time determined by seating clinicians.
Virtual Seating Coach (VSC) is an interactive clinical education and compliance tool that enables clinicians and consumers to work together in real time to achieve positioning and weight shift goals. The result of a partnership between Permobil and the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories, VSC now uses smartphone technology to make optimal positioning more attainable than ever.
