HealthLinc Medical Equipment to Distribute Keeogo Exoskeleton in B.C.

November 15, 2016 by Laurie Watanabe

HealthLinc Medical Equipment has signed an agreement with B-TEMIA to distribute the manufacturer’s Keeogo walking exoskeleton in British Columbia.

HealthLinc Medical Equipment, dba HME Mobility & Accessories, is one of the province’s largest home medical equipment providers.

The Keeogo exoskeleton is described as an assistive walking device “indicated for individuals experiencing a lack of endurance, reduced muscle strength or pain as a result of injury or chronic illness.

Unlike some other exoskeletons, the Keeogo requires its user to be able to walk without assistance from another person, and to be able to “initiate all movements in walking, sit-stand, stand-sit, squatting, crouching, kneeling and stair climbing.”

B-TEMIA said in a news announcement about the distribution agreement that Keeogo has been used by consumers with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, incomplete spinal cord injury and stroke.

The exoskeleton is available for purchase or rental in Canada, and is part of a multicenter clinical trial with the goal of attaining clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

B-TEMIA is headquartered in Quebec.
