ISWP Has a New Logo

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (Dec. 3), the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP) introduced its updated logo. (Editor’s note: We love it! It looks sleeker and more “in motion” than the previous version.)

Comment on the new logo on X (formerly Twitter) @ISWPorg, or visit the ISWP Web site (also undergoing an update at present).

SCOTUS Dismisses ADA “Tester” Case

As this edition was closing, multiple news outlets including the New York Times and CNN were reporting that the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) dismissed as moot the so-called “tester” lawsuits brought by disability activist Deborah Laufer. Laufer had originally sued hotels that were not abiding by Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations; the hotels protested that Laufer never intended to book rooms in those hotels, the news outlets said.

Prior to the SCOTUS dismissal, the news outlets said Laufer had dropped her lawsuits. The hotels reportedly had changed ownership, and hotel Web sites had since been made ADA compliant.
