Cure SMA Announces 2021 Summit of Strength Events

February 25, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

Cure SMA has announced the 2021 schedule for its popular Summit of Strength events… and the events will take place in person, starting on March 27 in Orlando, Fla.

Summit of Strength events are one-day conferences for families, adults with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and caregivers to learn about SMA treatments, advocacy, care and support. Summits discuss standards of care, research and clinical trials, stress management, and navigating the special education process, according to a Cure SMA announcement.

Introduced in 2018, Summits are opportunities for members of the SMA community to gather locally for networking and education.

This year’s events are scheduled for Orlando, Fla. (March 27); Dallas (May 1); Raleigh, N.C. (May 15); Philadelphia (June 26); Indianapolis (July 10); Kansas City, Mo. (July 31); Cincinnati (Aug. 21); Minneapolis (Aug. 28); Boston (Sept. 11); New York City (Sept. 25); Oct. 2 (Anaheim, Calif.); Louisville, Ky (Nov. 13); and New Orleans (Dec. 4).

The Summits are free to attend.

The annual Cure SMA conference, which attracts attendees from across the country, will be held virtually June 7-11. The annual SMA Research & Clinical Care Meeting, which is usually held simultaneously with the annual conference, will take place June 9-11 and will also be held virtually.
