VGM Canada is now accepting nominations for the 2024 HME Woman of the Year.
In a May 29 announcement, VGM Canada said the awards program is “open to all women who work in the HME [home medical equipment] or mobility industry in Canada. Nominators are encouraged to provide examples of how the nominee has made significant contributions throughout her career to serve her patients, community, business, and the HME and mobility industry. Nominees can be suppliers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, manufacturers and other professionals in the HME or mobility industry.”
The 2023 winner was Sheila Buck, long-time occupational therapist, clinical educator and owner of Therapy NOW! in Ridgeway, Ontario. Cindy Wickens, founding partner of Xperience Home Healthcare headquartered in Windsor, Ontario, won the award in 2022, the first time it was presented.
“Now in the third year, we are thrilled to continue recognizing the outstanding women in our industry with this award,” Dave Davies, president of VGM Canada, said in the announcement. “We hope this award not only provides recognition and visibility to the incredible leaders in our industry, but helps promote the overall importance of the industry and the customers we serve every day.”
Nominations are being accepted through June 28 and can be submitted online.
The winner will be chosen by a committee of HME and mobility professionals and will be announced at the Canadian Seating & Mobility Conference on Sept. 10 in Toronto.
