CDRS Dan Allison Wins Inaugural Q’MANITARIAN Award

November 5, 2019 by Laurie Watanabe

Dan Allison, MS, OTR/L, ATP, CDRS, has been named the recipient of the first-ever Q’MANITARIAN award, presented by Q’STRAINT and Sure-Lok.

In a Nov. 4 news announcement, Q’STRAINT lauded Allison’s years of service to the driving rehabilitation and complex rehab technology industries. Allison, who currently works with clients as an occupational therapist and Driving Specialist at Shepherd Center, is also a former president of the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED).

Q’STRAINT’s President, Patrick Girardin, said in the announcement, “At Q’STRAINT, we believe it takes a special type of person to work in the transportation safety industry. Someone who not only demonstrates extraordinary dedication and devotion to their profession, but also compassion — a real humanitarian, or what we call a Q’MANITARIAN.”

Allison will receive two commemorative plaques: One is his to keep, while the other will hang at Q’STRAINT’s headquarters, on the wheelchair securement manufacturer’s Wall of Honor.

“I am deeply honored to have received the Q’MANITARIAN award, especially from a company that I hold such a high opinion of and deeply respect,” Allison said. “I am also a strong proponent of the Q’STRAINT product line, which I find to be not only robust, but exceptionally easy to use, and their performance and durability are second to none.”

At Shepherd Center, Allison works in the Adaptive Driving Services Patient Program.

The two 2019 Q’MANITARIAN finalists were Maria Church, Risk Management Director for Suburban Transit Network, one of the largest non-profit paratransit agencies in Pennsylvania; and Kevin Bunce, Assistant Director of Maintenance for Sun Metro Transit Agency.
