Online Case Study: Wheelers Van Rentals

March 3, 2008 by Laurie Watanabe

When you’re looking for customers to rent your scooters, power chairs or adapted automotive vehicles, your Web site has to reach out across the miles to help you close the deal.

Wheelers Van Rentals’ site (www.wheelersvanrentals.com) seeks to give potential customers the details they need to make rental decisions. The home page provides a national map of the United States; with a click, visitors can find Wheelers locations along with information and links to accessible tourist attractions. There’s a Vehicle Features section that lists the adaptive equipment included, such as wheelchair lifts or ramps, tie-downs and hand controls (on request). And the Reservations feature enables visitors to enter vehicle pickup and drop-off dates, type of vehicle desired and location desired, so customers can check for availability on the spot.

For visitors who are contemplating the benefits of renting a vehicle, there’s a “Why Rent?” page that explains Wheelers benefits such as Roadside Assistance and Delivery/Pickup Services. Interestingly, Wheelers also suggests that renting could be a good way to “test-drive” the idea before buying a costly accessible vehicle.

Wheelers’ site is convenient to navigate, uncluttered and attractive. But more than that, it sorts information in easy-to-digest bytes — surely much appreciated by consumers trying to make an important financial decision.
